The Clemson Pre-Optometry Club is the first club of its kind in the state of South Carolina! The purpose of this organization is to prepare undergraduate students for optometry school through various opportunities and experiences.
Various optometry school recruitment representatives are invited to provide admission information and to explain what their program has to offer.
We hold monthly meetings on Clemson University's campus. The meetings feature optometry school admission information, OAT prep help, guest speakers, and professional development workshops.
We serve the community both local and worldwide by facilitating the provision and the sustainability of vision care for people who can neither afford nor obtain such care.
See "Optometric Service" page for more information.
We invite local optometrists to describe their personal experiences with the field of optometry.
A cow eyeball dissection will be offered to club members in the Spring. Exploring an actual mammalian eye allows students to learn how the parts of the eye function and how vision operates through this hands-on activity. In addition, they can learn about human vision by drawing similarities between the cow and human eye.
We offer prep workshops for the OAT, as well as discounts for OAT prep materials.
